About Mainstreet UFO

Mainstreet UFO's mission is to create stories that will open our minds to see more than just the day-to-day struggles, to remember that no life is ordinary, and that incredible stories have incredible characters behind them.

Mainstreet UFO Productions is all about creating fine pieces of artwork in the film medium. We are a student lead, produced and funded film production company. We strive to better ourselves and to better our pictures, so that you, the audience, can benefit from it by enjoying and escaping into the worlds that we mold for you.

Our company is all about harnessing the human imagination and using it to create something that will captivate our audience and make them think about it long after they've taken their eyes off the TV, computer or film screen. It's not just simply about making a film, it's about telling a story that the audience can not only identify with, but be changed by.

Robert K. Johnston wrote, "...movies help you to 'see'. They focus life for the viewer, giving us a richer variety of experience than would otherwise be possible." Mainstreet UFO is here to create films that focus the scope of reality on what impassions us. Johnston also wrote, "Movies broaden our exposure to life and provide alternate reading of life's meaning and significance." This is our goal, to provide new looks or views into the world that we live in.

Our company hopes that you will take the time to look around our website and get to know us a little better. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

Founded July 4th, 1997.

First Generation LogoFounded by the siblings, Bethany and Andrew Sears, Mainstreet UFO began it's life as a concept spring board, where the siblings would bring idea's to each other for movies, and try to develop them and riddle the idea with any possible plot loop holes. Initial script ideals included a parody on a time traveling Sir Francis Drake who - like any good pirate - would plunder technology as he traveled through time. This concept was never developed beyond a treatment.

The Black CatAfter over a year as a 'concept only' group, on November 28th, 1998, Mainstreet UFO made their first film: The Black Cat. This simple, yet ambitious film was completed in one day by the siblings and their parents. The film remains locked away in the Mainstreet UFO vaults, making random guest appearances whenever a bit of black mail or good laughs are needed.

Second Generation LogoIn 1998, Andrew decided he wanted to attempt and write and direct a feature length movie. He had the idea back in 1997, when he created the treatment for 'The Breath of Freedom.' His ambition was high, and it took him until 1999, but he finally had written a complete screenplay, and in early 2000, Andrew brought together some friends and created a trailer to try and create interest for the film. Third Generation LogoAfter two afternoons of filming, and several mishaps with choreography, the film needed to be shelved. The Breath of Freedom is still a complete screenplay, but production plans have been put on an indefinite hold. In 2001 & 2002, a heavy emphasis was put on commercial work for Mainstreet UFO as the creative talents were set on the back burner and the crew of Mainstreet UFO spent most of their time digitizing old films, creating wedding and anniversary videos.

In late 2002, Andrew shifted the creative focus from trying and accomplishing large feature length films, and concentrated on creating shorts. Fourth Generation Logo These shorts became very popular, and earned Mainstreet UFO a trademark that fans began to identify. This success helped propel the company, and in late 2003, they were able to bring on more crew. An important addition to the Mainstreet UFO family at this time was Robert Fike. Together Andrew and Robert began an aggressive plan of producing and developing stories and producing shorts that helped either identify or stimulate the plot their various stories would be based on.

Fifth Generation Logo

In 2004 & 2005, Mainstreet UFO added Brad Saffell to their design team, and were able to successfully expand upon the creative base that was built in the preceding years. Additionally, Andrew took more time in developing and creating shorts that carried strong controversial messages that meant a lot to him.

With the coming of 2006, Mainstreet UFO once again began work on pre-production for a feature length film: The Terrible Angel. The intense time requirement of the pre-production balanced with the weight of school effectively hampered any shorts from being produced in the first half of 2006, much to the disappointment of the entire crew at Mainstreet UFO. Additionally, in 2006, Robert Fike left Mainstreet UFO to start his own independent studio in Texas. His studio, Skyline Productions, still will be working indirectly with Mainstreet UFO for distribution.
